Organic Graffiti

Berlin’s street art is constantly changing. I wander until something catches my eye, then carefully frame a small section and wait for the light. What I photograph may be altered or gone the following day, so each image preserves something that existed only briefly.

Theft from Above

The Great British Seaside

The British seaside has always made me smile. I am drawn to its people, amusements, faded signs, fish and chips, bad weather and glorious bits of nonsense. These photographs are not about the perfect postcard view; they are about the seaside I recognise and remember.

Backstage

Making a Living

Wherever I travel I find myself watching people at work. Shops, markets and street trades may look very different from place to place, but the need to make a living is universal. These photographs are about the people behind those everyday transactions.

The Room

Quiet

Not every photograph needs to shout. These are the quieter moments I have come across — people lost in thought, resting, waiting or simply getting on with life. Often nothing much is happening, and that is precisely what made me stop.

Laundry

The Unexpected

I am drawn to the things that make me stop, look twice or simply smile. Sometimes it is a person, sometimes a sign, sometimes a moment that makes very little sense. These photographs are those small surprises — the things I could never have planned, but was very pleased to find.

Shotgun Called

Companions

Across countries and cultures, the relationship between people and animals is constant, though never quite the same. Some bonds are affectionate, others practical, strange or uneasy. These photographs are small observations of lives being shared.
